Bagan is a medieval city, located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. Bagan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just inscribed on 2019 July 6th.
Probably the finest largest and best preserved of all the Bagan temples.Thought to have been built between 1090 and 1105 by King Kyanzittha, this perfectly proportioned temple heralds the stylistic end of the early Bagan period and the beginning of the middle period.
This pagoda, first build by King Anawrahta and completed by King Kyansittha in 1087, is the first gold covered monument in Myanmar. The pagoda is covered with sand stones and Lit up impressively at dusk, the gilded zedi sits on three rising terraces.
Thatbyinnyu is Bagan’s tallest temple at almost 200 ft.and represents a transition from the Mon period to a new architectural style that would soon be followed at the Sulamani. The majestic pagoda, towering above other nearby temples and pagodas is visible from much of the Bagan plains.
The Dhammayangyi is the largest temple on the plains of Bagan. From a distance it resembles the early step pyramids of Egypt.The enormous structure that was never completed consists of a massive square base topped by six receding terraces.
